How To Become A Member

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

 

1. RESIDENT MEMBER- Advocates enrolled with the Bar Council of India under the Provisions of the Advocates Act, 1961 and residing and practicing within the State of Sikkim before High Court of Sikkim and any other Court/Tribunal/Forum/Quasi-Judicial Authority situated in the State of Sikkim.

2.  HONORARY MEMBER- Any advocate not being a resident of  State of Sikkim, ordinarily/ occasionally appearing before High Court of Sikkim or any other Courts in the State of Sikkim may become Honorary Member by paying membership fees. However, an Honorary Member shall not have any voting rights and shall not be eligible to hold any Executive post.

3.  Any Honorary Members or any Non-Resident Advocates for taking up matters within the jurisdiction of High Court of Sikkim shall engage resident advocates practicing in the State of Sikkim preferably the members of SHCBAG.

Any advocate seeking membership to the SHCBAG shall make an application in writing in the prescribed form-along with a payment of prescribed fees. All application received for membership shall be placed before the Executive Committee for its consideration and approval, whose decision shall be final and binding.

FEES & SUBSCRIPTION-

The Enrollment Fee and subscription (for both Resident and Honorary members) shall be as under:

Enrollment fee (Payable one time, at the time of registration of Membership to SHCBAG)

  1. Sr. Advocates: Rs. 1000/-
  2. Other Advocates: Rs. 500/-

Monthly Subscription: Rs. 100/-

Life Membership: 

  1. Sr. Advocates: Rs. 25,000/-
  2. Other Advocates: Rs. 10,000/-

ARREARS OF SUBSCRIPTION: Any Member who remains in arrears of subscription for three months after it falls due and after he/she been required in writing by the Secretary, fails to pay the same within 30 days of receipt of such notice, his/her case will be reported by the Secretary to the Executive Committee which may take such action as it may think proper, including removal from Membership of SHCBAG.
